PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer outstanding in mechanical properties, etc. by reaction of an organic diisocyanate and/or organic polycarboxylic acid (anhydride) in the presence of an alkali metal fluoride using impurity-free sulforane as the solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be obtained by reaction of (A) (i) an organic diisocyanate and/or (ii) an organic polycarboxylic acid (anhydride) in the presence of (B) an alkali metal fluoride using (C) as the solvent, sulforane virtually free from sulforene and isopropyl sulforanyl ether. The contents of sulforene and isopropyl sulforanyl ether in said sulforane are pref. <=500ppm, respectively.
