PURPOSE:To shorten the transfer time by holding a specific correspondence table on the reception side and writing information in a reception file to a recovery file at the time of the occurrence of trouble in the reception file and referring to the correspondence table to restart transfer from required transfer unit data. CONSTITUTION:In case that information in a transmission file 4 of a computer 1 is transferred to a reception file 5 of a computer 2, the computer 1 divides information in the file 4 into transfer unit data and holds these data together with control information and transmits them, and the computer 2 divides these data into access unit data and holds these data and their correspondence information as the correspondence table. If trouble occurs in the file 5 during write, this trouble is reported to the computer 1 to stop the data transfer, and the correspondence table is referred to restart transfer from next transfer unit data and data is written in a recovery file 6.
