PURPOSE:To detect the grinding crack of fine ceramics during a grinding process, alleviate a grinding condition before the appearance of an unallowable grinding crack, prevent the occurrence of a defective product and improve a product yield by utilizing an acoustic emission generated during the grinding process. CONSTITUTION:An acoustic emission signal generated during the grinding process of fine ceramics with a grinding stone 1 is converted into an electric signal with a sensor 5 and then amplified by amplifiers 6 and 7. And the signal is made to pass a band path filter 8, thereby eliminating an acoustic emission or mechanical and electrical noises generated due to a normal grinding process and then enabling a detector 9 to detect the signal. The value of the detected signal when larger than the predetermined value is detected by an amplifying discriminator 10 and an alarm 11 is actuated for operating a buzzer, thereby informing a worker that a grinding crack has occurred. |
