PURPOSE:To measure salt accurately, by a method wherein a powder sampled from a solid is mixed with a reagent, a filter paper impregnated with an indicator solution is discolored by a gas generated in reaction with salt contained and then ethylalcohol is dispersed on the filter paper. CONSTITUTION:A powder sampled from a solid is fed at a feed port 5, mixed with potassium bichromate and acid and a filter paper impregnated with an indicator solution is discolored by a chromium oxide chloride gas generated in reaction with salt contained. Subsequently, ethylalcohol is dispersed on the filter paper 35 to discolor it very clearly. Then, the results of the discoloring of the filter paper 35 are detected with a color-coding sensor while the results of the discoloring of the filter paper previously measured are compared with the results of the detection to determined the content of salt of an excavating powder.
