METHOD FOR PROPAGATING BULBOUS PLANT

PURPOSE:To propagate a seed and seedling having excellent shape and quality together in large amounts, by cultivating the tissue of a bulbous plant while keeping osmotic pressure of a culture medium to a specific atmospheric pressure during the total term of tissue culture of the bulbous plant. CONSTITUTION:Osmotic pressure-adjusting agent (e.g. carbohydrate such as cane sugar or fruit sugar) is applied in an amount of 0-100g/l to a liquid culture medium to keep the osmotic pressure of a liquid culture medium to 2-8 atmospheric pressure. Then a tissue piece or culture cell of a bulbous plant is subjected to tissue culture in the liquid culture medium to provide the aimed seed and seedling being stable in growth and having high quality in large amounts. The osmotic pressure is held successively to 2-3 atmospheric pressure during total cultivation terms.
