Novel compounds of the general formula I <IMAGE> I where X and Y independently of one another are each carboxyl, a carboxylic ester group, cyano or an unsubstituted or substituted carbamyl or carboxylic hydrazide group and X and Y together form a radical of the formula <IMAGE> where R1 is hydrogen or a radical of a primary amine and R2 and R3 are each hydrogen or unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, are very useful as diazo components.
