A bonded abrasive article, e.g. a grinding wheel, comprises abrasive grains, a bond uniting the grains, and a filler of an iron sulphide and potassium aluminium fluoride interspersed throughout the bonded mass. The filler suitably comprises 5-60%, preferably 10-35%, by weight of the bond and consists of a 50/50 (volume) mixture of pyrites and potassium aluminium fluoride, the pyrites having a grain size less than 325 U.S. mesh. The bond may be resin, e.g. a phenolic resin, rubber or shellac, while the abrasive may be silicon carbide, aluminium oxide, emery or corundum. |
