PURPOSE:To make it possible to grasp the measuring state of bodily temperature, by switching and displaying an elapsed time and the measured value of the bodily temperature on a display part based on the result of computation in a timer circuit. CONSTITUTION:A temperature oscillator 104 measures the temperature in a room before a thermometer is used. The value is transferred to a temperature counter circuit A 106 and a temperature counter circuit B 107 through a frequency dividing circuit 105. The counted values and low temperature marks are displayed together on a display element 113 through a latch circuit 108, a driving circuit B 111 and a driving circuit 112. A timer circuit 103 starts counting at a time when a preset value in the latch circuit 8 is exceeded (when measurement of bodily temperature is started). A driving circuit B 110 corresponding to the lowest digit of the displayed value is controlled based on the output of the circuit 103. An elapsed time is displayed. After the specified time period, the data corresponding to the lowest digit of the circuit 108 is selected and displayed. When the oscillator 104 is closely brought into contact with a part, whose temperature is measured, the oscillating frequency becomes gradually high. The values of the counters 106 and 107 are compared 109 with the previous values. The data in the circuit 108 are updated, and the measured bodily temperature is displayed.
