PURPOSE:To prevent deviation in the state of optical path adjustment even if distortion occurs in a case by means of an external force by fixedly providing a frame in one inner part of a box and installing an optical source, a reflecting plate, a convergence part and an image sensor. CONSTITUTION:Since the case 1 is flat, it is set to a stable and small box shaped type of packing with splitting it into plural boxes. The light source 25, the reflecting plate 29, the converging part 32 and the image sensor 36 are fixed to the frame 19 and they are assembled as a unit. Since an assembling process as the unit is executed irrespective of the case 1, the relative position of parts in an optical system can independently and easily be adjusted. Since the frame 19 has a size which can be stored in the box, rigidity can be improved and the parts in the optical system are held by the frame 19. Thus, the deviation in the state of the optical path adjustment can be prevented and the picture of a writing medium can accurately be read even if distortion occurs in the case 1 by the external force.
