PURPOSE:To improve a practical effect by providing a window for bar code reading at one end of a handset in a telephone set, reading bar codes in the window if necessary and transmitting them to the telephone line. CONSTITUTION:If a prescribed button in control buttons 4 is depressed, the read window 14 in the handset 2 shifts from left to right and reads the bar codes 10 in a state that the window is brought into contact with a bar code card 9. Read data is decoded by a decoding part 18 through a light receiving part 17, and it is converted into the FSK signal having the same DTMF tone or frequency modulation as the dial signal of a pushphone concerned. It is outputted to the telephone line through a transmission part 19 and a matching circuit 20, and the call of a callee or the remote control operation of a terminal which is in a call state can be executed.
