PURPOSE:To reduce the interference due to an undesired reproducing signal component by forming a correction signal component based on a reproduced component obtained by the action of a magnetic gap in a reproducing signal from a magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A 1st signal multiplied with the coefficient Ee/Eg, where Eg is a level of a reproduced component obtained by the action of a magnetic gap from a reproducing signal obtained from a magnetic head and Ee is a level of the undesired reproduced component from the edge of a magnetic core, (¦Eg¦>¦Ee¦) or a 2nd signal obtained by retarding the reproducing signal by a prescribed time, and a 3rd signal obtained by multiplying a coefficient of Ee/Eg with the level of the reproducing signal are formed in pairs. Then the processing subtracting the 1st signal from the reproducing signal obtained from the magnetic head or the processing subtracting the 3rd signal from the 2nd signal is applied. Thus, the undesired reproducing signal component in the reproducing signal obtained from the magnetic head is effectively reduced.
