Anode for electrolytically metallising metal strip

Soluble or insoluble anodes are used in conventional methods for electrolytically metallising metal strip. If soluble anodes are employed, only a fraction of the coating metal used can be exploited since there is otherwise the risk that the anodes in the finishing cells break off because they are eroded and their cross-section becomes thinner. It is therefore proposed to employ an anode in which the soluble anode sheath 2 having attachment devices 3 are attached to an insoluble anode core 1. A virtually 100% utilisation of the soluble anode material 2 is thereby achieved and the anode fabrication is considerably simplified. The energy costs incurred in the coating process are reduced and the addition of interfering alloy elements to the anode material can be eliminated.
