A tube 10 made from fibre-reinforced plastic, for a bicycle frame, has an internal periphery 11 provided with at least two longitudinal reinforcing ribs 12 projecting inwards at two diametrally-opposed positions. In order to manufacture this tube, a plurality of resin-impregnated fabric layers are wound around a mandrel which has two diametrally-opposed grooves. The reinforcing ribs 12 are rendered integral with the tube 10 by filling the grooves with resin-impregnated fabric scrap. <IMAGE>
