Washing machine bodywork (1) comprises a monocoque body formed from a sheet metal piece (2) bent to form the lateral walls (4, 5, 6, 7) of the washing machine. Walls 5 and 7 are welded where they overlap. Cut-outs 12, 13 define flaps 8, 9 which are bent into capping edges (10, 11) and bent over to provide top and bottom reinforcement and respectively intended for laying a top cover onto the bodywork (1) and resting the bodywork in an upright position. <IMAGE>
