<p>The needle cover strip (5) comprises a basic strip (6), a first strip (7) with a bevelled flank (71) and a second strip (9) with a bevelled flank (91), the first being fastened to the basic strip (6) and the second being movable on the basic strip. The second strip (9) can be spaced apart from the first (7) by spacers (10) which are connected to said strips (7, 9) by means of pivots (12). Locks keep the strips (7, 9) spaced apart and block the needle cover strip (5) in the mortise (4) of the bed (1). After the locks have been opened, the operator can bring the strips (7, 9) closer to one another so that there is sufficient play between the faces (61, 71, 91) of the needle cover strip (5) and the corresponding faces (41, 42, 43) of the mortise (4).
