PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for first copying execution by providing a switch, a signal sending-out means and a storing and discriminating means of pre-scan image density. CONSTITUTION:After confirming a fact that a ten key operation and timer setting do not exist before starting a copying operation, an original is placed on contact glass 12, a cover is closed, a limit switch 16 operates, and a microcomputer 8 detects whether the original exists or not, and its size by optical sensors 73-78. The sensors are attached onto lever bodies 71, 72 which are connected so as to be freely turnable. When it is decided that the original exists, an exposing device executes a pre-scan by a control signal of the microcomputer, image density information is stored in the microcomputer, and a timer 9 is started. When a print key is depressed within a set time of the timer, exposure information stored in the microcomputer is sent out to an AVR 10, and in case of the outside of the set time, the exposure information is cleared and the timer 9 is reset. The AVR 10 executes the first copying by an exposure level which has been brought to automatic exposure, based on the exposure information, and subsequently, copies a necessary number of sheets. After the print key has been operated, the automatic exposure pre-scan becomes unnecessary, the first copying is quickened. |
