PURPOSE:To obtain a cosmetic, containing an aqueous sol of fine hydrous titanium oxide particles homogeneously and stably dispersed with a low-molecular weight polyhydric alcohol, capable of transmitting visible rays, absorbing harmful ultraviolet rays and preventing blackening of the skin and having excellent stability with time and safety for the skin. CONSTITUTION:An antisunburn cosmetic containing an aqueous sol prepared by containing homogeneously and stably dispersed fine hydrous titanium oxide particles having 0.005-0.1mum, especially 0.005-0.05mum average particle diameter using a dissolved water-soluble polyhydric alcohol (e.g. glycerol, propylene glycol or sorbitol) having <=400mol.wt. as a stabilizer present in water as a principal ingredient. The amounts of the ingredients based on the total amount of the final composition are 1-20wt.%, preferably 3-15wt.% (expressed in terms of titanium oxide) hydrous titanium oxide and 0.5-80wt.%, preferably 1-50wt.% polyhydric alcohol. A liquid oily substance and surfactant are further blended. |
