PURPOSE:To display a picture at an arbitrary speed by providing an address generator which periodically generates horizontal addresses and vertical addresses for access to be given to plural picture memories respectively. CONSTITUTION:An address generator 2 periodically generates horizontal address 0, 1-59 and vertical address 0, 1-99 for each horizontal address and gives them as the read address to first-K-th memories 11-1K. A frame read-out controller 3 selects memories so that the memory 11 is selected for vertical address 0-97 and the memory 12 is selected for vertical address 98-99 and 0-95 and the memory 13 is selected fro vertical address 96-99 and 0-93 by the operator of a console 4. Thus, addressing of selected picture memories is shifted from selection of plural picture memories is shifted from selection of plural picture memories though this addressing essentially coincides with selection of plural picture memories, and the display speed is adjusted.
