PURPOSE:To easily and efficiently obtain a light alloy casting having thin wall and light weight by integrating light core with light alloy at low cost and by casting the light alloy so as to surround the light core of foamed aluminum coating outer circumferential face by heat insulating material. CONSTITUTION:On the outer circumferential face of the foamed aluminum body having 90-97% porosity ratio and about 0.1-0.5 specific gravity, the heat insulating layer of silica, etc., is coated, to form the heat insulating layer and obtain the light core. The above coating layer can be formed by spraying, etc., and is suitable to about 1mm thickness. The above light core is arranged at the prescribed position in a forming metallic mold. Next, the molten light alloy of aluminum, etc., for casting is poured in this metallic mold. This molten metal is smoothly flowed along the outer circumferential face of the light core, which small heat content by the heat insulating layer and the wettability thereof becomes high. By this method, the light alloy casting having thin wall and light weight with the light core as-cast and high rigidity can be easily formed.
