PURPOSE:To eliminate unstability due to the joining of a bonding agent and difficulty in the selection of every thin film material and glass on glass joining and to obtain superior contact with a magnetic recording medium, by providing a sliding base material arranged by keeping a prescribed interval from a thin film device plane. CONSTITUTION:A thin film head device 9a is provided on a plane on one side of a first sliding base material 11, and no head device is arranged on a second sliding base material 12. Those sliding base materials 11 and 12 are fixed on a common head substrate 13 with an organic bonding agent, etc., and a sliding plane 14 consisting of an almost continuous curved surface is attached extending over both base materials. At this time, a remaining interval (d) in which the thickness of the thin film head device 9a is subtracted from a distance between the sliding base materials 11 and 12 is set at a value shown in equation I. Where, R shows the radius of curvature of the sliding plane 14 observed in a traveling direction of the recording medium, and all units are shown in mum. In such a way, it is possible to bring the recording medium into contact with the sliding plane part of the thin film head device 9a, and to keep a contact state at the part of the thin film head device 9a satisfactorily even when the sliding base materials 11 and 12 are moved relatively against the thin film head device 9a. |
