PURPOSE:To make it possible to cope even with the use of a thermal transfer ink ribbon comprising an ink layer having a different releasing temperature, by providing a plurality of heat generating resistor trains which are disposed substantially in parallel with each other on a substrate at a predetermined interval with respect to a recording direction and have the same number of heat generating resistors. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 1 is constituted of a dot-forming means comprising heat generating resistor rows 3, 4, for recording images, on the surface of a ceramic substrate 2. Each of the trains 3, 4 is constituted of N heat generating resistors 3-1-3-N, 4-1-4-N, and is connected to a common electrode 5. Control of energization of each of the resistors is conducted by the common electrode 5 and discrete electrodes. The heat generating resistor rows 3, 4 are provided respectively on vitreous glazes 6, 7, and have the same width and the same height, but the trains may be different in width or height causing no problem. The resistor train 3 is provided at an end part on the upstream side, with respect to a recording direction, of the substrate 2. |
