PURPOSE:To increase ozone decomposition power in low temperature atmosphere by forming a catalyst for ozone decomposition containing 40-95wt.% of composite oxide of titanium and silicon and 5-60wt.% of beta-manganese dioxide as active elements. CONSTITUTION:A proper dose of water is added to TiO2-SiO2 powder with a molding assistant, and these are mixed, kneaded and molded into pellets or honeycomb forms by an extrusion molder. Next, these moldings are dried at about 50-120 deg.C and baked in the ventilated air for about 1-10hr at about 300-800 deg.C to obtain TiO2-SiO2 moldings. After this, these moldings are impregnated with an aqueous solution of manganate, thus supporting the latter. The moldings are dried at 50-120 deg.C and baked at 300-800 deg.C to obtain a catalyst for ozone decomposition. In this case, the catalyst needs to be composed of 40-95wt.% of TiO2-SiO2 and 5-60wt.% of beta-manganese dioxide. |
