PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon nanotube working device where a defect or a hole can be controllably introduced into the wall face of a carbon nanotube. SOLUTION: In the carbon nanotube working device where a carbon nanotube is installed in an electric furnace 22, and an oxidizer gas is made to flow, thus the carbon nanotube is worked by oxidation reaction, an oxidizer is pumped up by a specified amount from an oxidizer tank 122 stored with a liquid oxidizer with a metering pump 14-2, and the pumped up oxidizer is heated, thus vaporized with a vaporizer 16-2, so as to produce an oxidizer gas, and the oxidizer gas is introduced into the electric furnace 22.
