PURPOSE:To automatically control the amt. of a release agent to be coated so that always an adequate amt. of the release agent can be supplied to a fixing roller by integrating a coating member and cleaning member. CONSTITUTION:A release agent coater 3 has the coating member 31 and the blade 32 as well as a mounting member 33 as a supporting member to integrally support said member and a spring 34. The spring 34 is fixed to a fixing device body and acts to energize the coating member 31 and the blade 32 toward the fixing roller side. The coating member 31 consists of a porous tetrafluoroethylene resin of 40-90% porosity impregnated with dimethyl polysiloxane (silicone oil). This silicone oil is bled on the fixing roller 1 by the heat and rotation of the fixing roller 1 and is thinly and uniformly coated thereon by the blade 32. Namely, the spacing between the coating member 31 and the blade 32 is set and, therefore, the contact surface of the coating member 31 and the roller 1 is immersed in the oil and the outflow of the fresh oil is suppressed, by which wasteful oil consumption is prevented. Automatic control is thereby executed within the range of a slight amt. of coating. |
