Commercial and special-purpose vehicles, for example weapon-carrying vehicles, mobile radar stations, mobile satellite control stations and automatic cranes, which carry a heavy load require a very robust chassis. The chassis (1) according to the invention is of so-called box-type construction. It comprises a lower and an upper support plate (2, 3) reinforced by and connected to reinforcing elements (12) located between the plates. This construction results in an enormous carrying force and exceptionally high rigidity against deformation with very low chassis height. In contrast to conventional chassis constructions having a total height of 30-40 cm, minimal heights of approximately 10 cm are possible with this chassis. Additional reinforcement is obtained by covering the external fronts of the chassis with vertical covering plates. These measures make it possible to obtain a shape which permit very low mounting of the chassis even when big wheels are used. The chassis according to the invention makes it possible to use telescopic axle suspensions, such as those described in Patent application No. 531/87. This makes it possible to adjust the vehicle position during motion and without additional devices. In addition, a construction of relatively low weight is obtained. |
