PURPOSE:To remove the toners, etc., deposited on the edge part of a cleaning blade by generated impact and to maintain stable cleaning performance by executing releasing and repressurizing of said blade when a prescribed number of copies are attained. CONSTITUTION:Paper feeding is once stopped and liquid supply is stopped by releasing a diffusion plate 19 when the prescribed number of copies are attained during continuous copying. A pressurization solenoid for cleaning is then de-energized instantaneously to release the pressure of the cleaning blade 17. The diffusion plate 19 is reset to the operation position after the repressurization and the paper feed is restarted after the starting of the liquid supply. The toners, paper dust, etc., deposited on the edge part of the cleaning blade 17 are dropped onto a cleaning foam roller 16 by the impact generated by such release and repressurization of the blade 17 and are recovered into a developing tank. The always cleaned state is thus maintained in the edge part of the blade 17.
