SELF-PROPELLED SUBMARINE CABLE BURYING MACHINE

PURPOSE:To reduce an excessive tension caused by a change in the marine weather at the time of raising and lowering burying a machine by using a power variable motor employed at the time of burying a submarine cable so as to generate lift. CONSTITUTION:When a burying machine is brought down to the sea bottom or lifted therefrom, the output of a submersible motor 1 is set at the maximum horsepower (200 h.p.) and only an oil hydraulic pump 2 is caused to operate by a coupler. An oil hydraulic motor 3 as a lift-generating means generates about 1-2 tons of lift by rotating a propeller 4 through an oil hydraulic water from said oil hydrauic pump 2. Consequently, the weight in water (about 1-2 tons) of said burying machine applied to an umbilical cable can be made almost zero. When a cable is laid, moreover, the output of said submersible motor 1 is switched to the submersible pump 15 side and burying a cable is conducted by a high-pressure water.
