PURPOSE:To enhance the NOx reducing capability of the title catalyst and to stabilize its strength by depositing iron and/or vanadium as the catalytic components on the calcium sulfate carrier having crystallites of 300-450Angstrom size to form the catalyst for purifying exhaust gas. CONSTITUTION:Iron and/or vanadium are deposited as the catalytic components on the calcium sulfate carrier having crystallites of 300-450Angstrom size to form the catalyst for purifying exhaust gas. The pelletized, spherical, platy, and honeycomb catalysts can be used. The catalyst has high denitration performance, and the carrier consists of the calcium sulfate which is not converted into hemihydrate gypsum. In addition, the catalyst is set in an exhaust gas passage, 0.5-5mol. ammonia for one mol. nitrogen oxide contained in the exhaust gas is added, and the catalyst is preferably brought into contact with the gaseous reactant at about 2,000-50,000hr<-1> space velocity (SV). |
