<p>PURPOSE:To maintain freshness of agricultural product for long term, by placing the fresh agricultural products in a corrugated box covered with both a gas- impermeable film and a selectively gas-permeable film, vacuum-cooling them, charging the box with specific gases to return the vacuum in the box to the atmospheric pressure and then sealing the box. CONSTITUTION:The outer or inner surface of a corrugated box 1 employed for receiving fresh agricultural products such as vegetables, fruits or flowers is adhered or lined with a slightly gas-permeable polymer film 4 such as polyethylene film. Simultaneously or subsequently, the polymer film 4 is provided with an opening. The opening is adhered with a second polymer film 2 having selective gas permeability, such as silicone film, to clog the opening. The thus prepd. corrugated box 1 is charged agricultural product and wholly vacuum-cooled. When the vacuum in the box is returned to the atmospheric pressure, carbon dioxide and nitrogen gases are introduced into the box, which is then sealed with an adhesive tape.</p> |
