The sports shoe has a pocket (2) to hold small personal effects such as keys, coins etc. during sports activities. The upper (E) of the shoe has a heel portion (D) whose lower end is secured near the fixture (C) to the sole (B). The pocket is stitched to the side along at least some of its edges (3-5) and is provided with an access slot (e.g. with sliding clasp fastener 6) which extends between the upper edge (4) and the lower edge (5) of the pocket. The slot is preferably arranged at the rear end of the pocket. The pocket may have a closure flap (7) over the slot which may be secured via hook-pile fastener strips (8).
