PURPOSE:To conduct the fine adjustment of an initial height of a color ribbon with accuracy to enhance a printing quality, by providing a cam part, an elevater part consisting of a ribbon oscillator for vertically moving the color ribbon, and a phase adjusing gear consisting of two gears capable of changing a relative position relation in an angular direction. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon cartridge 8 held by a cassette holder 4 moves upwards when a position cam 2 rotates clockwise and downwards when it rotates counterclockwise. Gears 5A and 5B of a phase adjusting gear 5 engage with the position cam 2 and a drive gear 6, respectively, thereby transmitting the rotation of the position cam 2 to the drive gear 6. In the phase adjusting gear 5, the gear 5B is an integral part of a phase adjusting plate 5C having a slot. The gear 5A and the gear 5B are coaxially disposed. The phase of the gears 5A and 5B is adjusted by rotating the gears reversely to each other using a screw 5D, which allows the height of a ribbon 13 in a printing part 10 to coincide with the height of the ribbon 13 in the ribbon cartridge 8.
