PURPOSE:To easily judge developer supply and to prevent an image defect from occurring by displaying the residue of a developer on a density adjustment level display means when the shortage state of the developer is detected. CONSTITUTION:A toner bottle 33 which contains toner 32 for a developing device 6 is mounted detachably on a toner supply gear 35 which has a rectangular hole 34 with the mouth part set downward, and the toner 32 is supplied into a developing device 37 by the rotation of a toner supply motor 32. A reflection type photoelectric sensor 38 provided below the hole 34 detects whether or not there is the toner 32 left in the bottle 33 and turns on when the toner runs out. When a toner empty state is entered, a toner empty display part illuminates and further the residue of the toner after that is displayed on an image density adjustment level display part while decreasing stepwise. Consequently, the residue is easily known and an image defect due to the shortage of the toner is prevented from occurring.
