PURPOSE:To prevent abrasive grains from being detached, by performing the manufacture of a grinding belt applying to a belt base material the same tension to that applied to the grinding belt, when it is in use, so that the grinding belt prevents its under-applied adhesive agent from generating a crack when the grinding belt is in use. CONSTITUTION:Tension almost equal to the tension, applied to a grinding belt 1 when it is used, is applied to a strip-shaped belt base material 2, thereafter an under-applied adhesive agent 3 is applied in a stratified shape to surfaces of this belt base material 2. Abrasive grains 4 are uniformly distributed on a layer of this under-applied adhesive agent 3, and the grinding belt 1 is manufactured by fixing these abrasive grains 4 to the belt base material 2 by a finish-applied adhesive agent 5. Since the grinding belt 1 is used being manufactured applying tension such as in the above, the grinding belt 1, even if it applies the tension, only returns to a condition of the belt when it is manufactured, preventing the under-applied adhesive agent 3 from generating a crack. Accordingly, the grinding belt 1, preventing the abrasive grains 4 from being detached while holding the abrasive grains 4 to be distributed in a uniform condition even if the grinding belt 1 is pulled extending by the tension, the grinding ability is prevented from deteriorating.
