The invention relates to a method for producing a flat cable whose wires (2) are twisted with one another in places in the direction of the line and are situated in parallel next to one another with a prescribed grid spacing (5) between the twisted regions (3) in flat connecting regions (4) for the purpose of contacting by means of the technology of insulation piercing connecting devices. In this method, the wires are guided from output stores (6) through a twisting device (9) and are twisted in the process against a mating holder situated behind the twisting device (9) in the feed direction (7).
