PURPOSE:To obtain a compact recording/reproducing device together with improvement of its reliability by securing such a constitution where the moving locus of the center of a disk held within a clamp mechanism is set orthogonal to the center axis of a turntable on the same plane. CONSTITUTION:Each of plural disks 15 stored vertically into a storing part 2 has its center position O1 and center horizontal axis G2; while a disk 15 set in a clamp mechanism 4 has its center position O2 and horizontal shift axis G3. A turntable 21 has a center axis G1. The moving locus G3 is orthogonal to the axis G1 on the same plane. The axis G2 is set above and in parallel with the locus G3. When the disk 15 is set on the table 21, it is not required to displace a clamp part in the Y and Z directions and just a horizontal shift toward X and a 90 deg. rotation toward A are required. As a result, the disk 15 can be loaded in a simple route so that a compact recording/reproducing device together with improvement of its reliability.
