PURPOSE:To make it possible to dispense with special processing for either spline shaft on the rolling shaft and driving shaft sides by synchronously rotating the rolling shaft so as to set a movable coupling on a spline shaft on the rolling shaft side. CONSTITUTION:When a roll stand 3 to be replaced is carried into the specific position on a base and next an auxiliary stand 7 is shifted, a movable coupling 19 slides on a spline shaft 11 on the driving shaft side and a fixed tooth 21 at its outer end engages with the tooth 16 of a movable tooth material 14. Hereby, the rotation of the spline shaft 11 on the driving side is transmitted to the movable tooth material 14 through the movable coupling 19 and a rooling shaft 2 becomes synchronously rotating condition. Accordingly, automatic separation/connection can be executed between a roll shaft 2 of the stand 3 and a driving shaft 4 and either spline shaft 10, 11 of the roll shaft 2 and the driving shaft 4 becomes needless of special processing.
