In a pendulum type weigher the basic price of a commodity is set up and then on the basis of such price the balance automatically determines the weight and sale price of the commodity being weighed. A weigh beam 11 (Fig. 2) fulcrumed on _ knife edges 12 supports on one arm a weigh pan 17 and on its other arm a pan 15 for tare calibration. Oscillation is damped by a dash-pot 20. Rigidly attached to the beam is a pointer 22 and a pendulum weight 23 which is of such a weight that e.g. a 1000 g article in the weigh pan corresponds t to maximum deflection of the pointer. The weight 23 is elongated and has a straight edge 24 (parallel to a hypothetical line 24a passing through the fulcrum edges 12) for co-operation with a detecting element 34a on a follow up weight detecting carriage 34, and a detecting element 53 on a follow up sale price detecting carriage 47. The carriage 34 moves along a bar 33, which is perpendicular to the half load position of the line 24a, moved by an endless steel strip 35 running over a roller 36 and drum 37. Engaging the drum 37 is a draw element 39 which, by virtue of a weight 40 suspended on it, rotates the drum and pulls the carriage to urge the detecting element 34a against the edge 24 of the pendulum weight 23. A weight indicating scale disc 44 rotates with the drum 37. The carriage is returned to its no load position by a motor 41 which rotates the drum 37 against the pull of the weight 40. The price carriage 47 operates similarly and runs on bars 46, 48, its movement being conveyed to a price scale disc 65. The distance of its detector element 53 from the fulcrum edges 12 is adjustable however and the position thereof is selected and set according to the basic price of the commodity. Adjustment is carried out when the carriage 47 is at the sub zero position by means of a fork 77, on a carriage 68 movable on a frame member 66 by a steel strip 67, the fork engaging a ball 78 on the basic price member 52. At the same time the strip 67 moves a basic price scale disc 72 so that within the area indicated at 45 the corresponding weight, basic price and sale price are indicated, and can be printed on a label (not shown). |
