PURPOSE:To perform printing on a large-sized form by using a small-sized developing device and a latent image carrier by performing the printing on the form through a transfer drum by serial printing. CONSTITUTION:The width of the endless belt type latent image carrier 23 is made much narrower than the axial length of a drum 20 which is wound with the form, and the developing device is also reduced in size matching with the width of this latent image carrier. Further, a toner image formed on the latent image carrier 23 is transferred to the transfer drum 20 while shifting the position in the axial direction of the transfer drum 20 successively to form a toner image of one page on the transfer drum, and this toner image of one page is transferred to the form by a transfer roll. Namely, a process unit 21 equipped with a narrow-width OPC belt 23 is moved intermittently in the axial direction of the transfer drum 20 successively to perform serial printing. Consequently, the printing on the large-sized form 8 is enabled by using the small-sized developing device 26 by increasing the axial length of the transfer drum 20, thereby reducing the size of the printer on the whole.
