PURPOSE:To obtain the titled filament having a high tensile and and knot strength without containing air bubbles, by extruding a vinylidene fluoride based resin through a nozzle and passing the resin through an air gap and cooling bath kept at specific temperatures. CONSTITUTION:A vinylidene fluoride based resin which is preferably vinylidene fluoride homopolymer or a copolymer of >=70wt.% vinylidene fluoride with vinyl fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene, trifluorochloroethylene and/or perchlorovinyl ether, etc., is melted and extruded through a nozzle. A filament in the form of a melted strand is subsequently passed through an air gap part having a heat insulating zone, such as a heat insulating cylindrical body, at a temperature within the range of 50-100 deg.C internal temperature, then a cooling bath kept at 40-80 deg.C temperature and cooled to afford the aimed filament.
