PURPOSE:To prevent condensation near a read section by using an output signal of a temperature detection circuit detecting the temperature of a thermal head so as to control a light emitting diode array drive circuit lighting and distinguishing a light emitting diode array in an image sensor. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a temperature detection circuit 6 is set to 15 deg.C and the LED array 1a is lighted till the temperature of a thermal head 5 reaches 15 deg.C, then the LED array 1a is lighted and even if the temperature around the facsimile equipment rises rapidly by heating at a lower temperature in winter, till the temperature of the thermal head 5 reaches 15 deg.C, the LED array 1a is kept lighted. Thus, the vicinity of the read section is warmed by the heat of the LED array 1a and the temperature near the read section follows the temperature around the facsimile equipment and no condensation is caused. When the temperature of the thermal head 6 reaches 15 deg.C, the LED array 1a is lighted/extinguished by the control from the substantial LED array control circuit 4.
