PURPOSE:To lessen the pumping loss and promote atomization of the fuel by discharging an excessive part of the fresh air, which was sucked into the working chamber of a casing on one side, into the working chamber of the casing on the other side, when the load is low. CONSTITUTION:When the load is low in a 2-rotor type engine, the excessive part of the fresh air, which was sucked into a working chamber 8 of a casing on one side without being contracted, is discharged by an actuator 19 into a working chamber 8 of the casing on the other aide, via a connecting passage 15 to which a switching valve 16 is opened. Accordingly, since the amount of contraction of the intake air is reduced, a predetermined amount of fresh air can be sucked in, lessening the pumping loss. In this case, since a gas stream toward the connecting passage 15 is generated in the working chamber 8 on the other side, which is under a compressive stroke, the fuel, which is supplied by an injection nozzle 34 to the working chamber 8, collides with this gas stream to be satisfactorily atomized. As a result, the stability in combustion can be enhanced, and the quantity of HC-compound can be decreased. |
