<p>PURPOSE:To obtain an alcohol compound in high yield, by treating an alcohol compound containing a hydroxyl group protected with a tetrahydropyranyl group with an organotin compound in the presence of Lewis acid catalyst and a solvent under a mild condition. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by formula I (R is organic group) is treated with a compound [e.g. dimethylbis(methylthio)tin] shown by formula II [R<1> is alkyl or phenyl; R<2> is alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; (a) is 2 or 3] in the presence of Lewis acid catalyst (e.g. boron trifluoride etherate) and a solvent (e.g. toluene) and stirred for several hours at low temperature to give a compound shown by formula III. By the above-mentioned method, even if another protecting group and an alpha,beta-unsaturated double bond exist in the same molecule, a tetrahydropyranyl group can be eliminated without exerting influence on the protecting group and steric isomerism and OH group can be reformed and especially a natural substance is advantageously synthesized.</p> |
