PURPOSE:To transfer a record to a 2nd magnetic recording medium by superposing the 2nd magnetic recording medium which contains magnetic powder and has the coercive force at an ordinary temp. of <=1/2 the coercive force of a 1st magnetic recording medium onto said 1st recording medium and applying alternating magnetic fields thereto at the temp. at which the coercive force decreases to the value lower than the value at the time of the ordinary temp. CONSTITUTION:The dependency of the coercive force on temp. is adjusted by using the magnetic powder of hexagonal ferrite AO.nFe2O3 contg. one element A among Ba, Sr, Pb, and Ca and changing the kind and substitution quantity of substituting components such as Co and Ni for part of Fe. A coating compd. is prepd. by mixing and dispersing such magnetic powder with a binder resin and org. solvent. The compd. is then coated on a polyester film and is dried to prepare a magnetic layer. A magnetic field is applied perpendicularly to the surface thereof to orient said layer. The 1st medium previously recorded with the signals is superposed on this recording medium and the alternating magnetic fields are impressed thereto at the temp. at which the coercive force of the 2nd magnetic recording medium decreases to the value lower than the coercive force at the time of the ordinary temp. The efficient transfer and recording at a high density from the 1st magnetic recording medium to the 2nd magnetic recording medium are permitted by this constitution.
