MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To improve an electromagnetic conversion characteristic by constituting a magnetic layer of a thin film of ferromagnetic iron nitride or iron oxynitride which consists of the aggregate of columnar particles and raising the respective columnar particles at a specific angle from a base surface. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium is formed with the magnetic layer by providing the thin film of the ferromagnetic iron nitride or iron oxynitride on the nonmagnetic base. The thin film of the ferromagnetic iron nitride or iron oxynitride is constituted of the assemblage of the columnar particles and is so formed that the respective columnar particles rise at 30-55 deg. from the base surface. The electromagnetic conversion characteristic is thereby improved. Since the rising angle of the respective columnar particles from the base surface can be adjusted by the degree of electron projection, the electromagnetic conversion characteristic thereof is adjustable.
