A method for isolating Levamisole from Tetramisole is described. Thus, 24.08 g tetramisole in 113 ml H2O is treated with a mixt. contg. 5.85 g L-N-[(4-methoxyphenyl)sulfonyl!glutamate and 2 g NaOH in 85ml H2O which is adjusted to PH 4.0. This mixt. is cooled to 15- 20↿C, stirred for 5 h, washed, and dried at 50↿C to give 23.55 g Levamisole, L-N-[(4-methoxyphenyl)sulfonyl glutamate.
