PURPOSE:To stably read a transmission reference data by providing a thick transparent reference plate on an end face of an original placing table. CONSTITUTION:An original scanning section 5 comprising a 1st scanner 3 and a 2nd scanner 4 and provided while clipping an original placing table 2 is provided on a main body 1. A scale 41 used as a reference face placing the original O, a transmission reference board 42 and a reflection reference board 43 are provided on the upper face of the end of the original placing table 2. The transparent reference plate 42 is provided on the original placing table 2 and made of a thick material. Thus, no dust is stuck on an optical focal face Q and even if dust is stuck on an upper face of the transparent reference board 42, since no focal face is formed, no adverse effect is given to a transmitted reference data.
