AUTOMATIC DISTANCE MEASURING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To together know the obtained value of the distance up to an object to be measured and the reliability thereof, by calculating the reliability of the original distance value from the data exerting effect thereon and calculating the distance value on the basis of said reliability and the original distance value. CONSTITUTION:In an optical system 1, the luminous flux from an object 2 to be measured is divided into two and two images of the object 2 to be measured are formed on a CCD linear image sensor 3. A CCD control part 4 has a circuit for applying A/D conversion to the signals obtained from both of a CCD driving circuit and a CCD 3 to output the same to an internal signal wire 5. An operation part 6 detects the positions of two images of the object 2 to be measured from the data outputted from the CCD control part 4 and calculates the internal therebetween to calculate the value of the distance up to the object 2 to be measured and the reliability thereof and outputs the obtained distance value and the reliability thereof to an external host computer 7 through an interface bus 8.
