Worm gear consisting of a worm wheel 1 and a worm screw 2 which are mounted stationarily but rotatably in relation to one another 5, and where the worm screw 2 is designed with means 8 for pressing it into firm contact with the worm wheel 1, which means can consist of a pressure plate 9 which is arranged so as to act directly on the periphery of the screw 2 and press the screw radially against the worm wheel 1, and which is bowl-shaped 10 and has an inner bowl surface which corresponds essentially to the outer periphery of the screw tops of the worm screw, and which is arranged so as to surround close to 180 DEGREE of the periphery of the screw. The pressure plate 9 is, on its side facing away from the screw 2, designed with interacting means for pressing the screw 2 against the worm wheel, for example in the form of a piston 11 arranged slidably in a cylinder 12 which is stationary in relation to the worm wheel 1 and the worm screw 2 and which is connected, by means of a line 15 from its bottom, to a pneumatic or hydraulic pressure-medium source. <IMAGE> |
