This invention is a magnetic plastic card suitable for use as credit cards, bank card, ID cards, and the like and to a process for producing the same. The magnetic card comprises a card substrate and a planar magnetic recording piece of island form and has smooth, fair peripheral edges, the magnetic recording piece being imbedded in the card substrate to lie flush with one another's surface in a same plane. The process comprises a first step of forming a magnetic transfer sheet, a second step of transferring the magnetic recording layer of island form, and a third step of imbedding the magnetic layer.
