<p>A tubular probe having an inflatable rubber collar to locate the tube end in position in a patient's throat is fitted with an ancillary collar to protect the relatively delicate walls of the inflatable collar from IR radiation. Suitable for introducing air and/or anaesthetic gases during endo-tracheal or tacheometry operations, esp. when using laser beams. Pref. the protective collar is made in the form of several overlapping radial petals 0.6-0.8 mm thick and made from a polysiloxane rubber contg. a reflective filler of e.g. silver, gold or pref. approx. 1% by wt. of finely divided aluminium. Whole body of the tube may be of material contg. a reflective filler.</p> |
